If you’re looking for a fabulous place to head for a relaxing time away, look no further than The King & Prince Beach & Golf Resort in St. Simon’s Island, Georgia. The island has so much to offer. Whether it’s history, shopping, eating, adventure or just relaxing by the beach or pool, this destination has something for everyone!
I was invited by The King and Prince to visit on a media trip with several other writers. All opinions are my own and genuine.
My favorite things about St. Simon’s Island
I am not an early riser, but it intrigued me that the sun rises at 7am each day. That was doable! So, each morning, I headed to the beach for a stroll to the exposed sandbar. It was lovely! Birds and a beautiful array of colors were present with me each morning. I would highly suggest doing the same!
One great way to get around the island for sightseeing is the St. Simon’s Lighthouse Trolley. The first stop on our tour was the gorgeous Christ Church. It was lovely and full of history (including the Wesley family), and I find cemeteries so interesting. Theirs was so lovely!
I’m obsessed with forts, so I was elated when we headed to Fort Frederica. It is a national park that has the fort plus remnants of old buildings. What a beautiful place to peruse for a while! Another interesting part of the history of the island are the “tree spirits” carved into trees by artist Keith Jennings. Keep an eye out for them if you head to St. Simon’s Island!
Culinary delights pepper the island, and I really enjoyed eating my way through! Here are a few of the restaurants we visited.
ECHO – the on-site restaurant at The King & Prince
Gnat’s Landing – a fun, casual place with picnic style seating
Georgia Sea Grill – a fab, upscale place for dinner
Sandcastle Cafe at the Pier – the best breakfast buffet around
The Natural Beauty
Drippy Spanish moss is present throughout the island as are beautiful blooms in surprise places. It’s so lovely!
Of course it goes without saying that The King & Prince is a beautiful place. With comfortable, spacious rooms and both pools and the beach, it really is a treat to stay there! There are several room options available, and if you want to bring the family, there are condo and house type accommodations available, too.
The Activities (& Friendships)
One thing I really enjoyed on the island was renting bikes. It’s a unique area because it has two low and two high tides each day, which allows the opportunity to ride bikes on the beach without any trouble. I loved making friends and riding throughout the island and on the beach. It was a highlight for me – both riding the bike and making memories with new friends!
