When it comes to hotels, one boutique chain really does it right when catering to college students and their families. With comfortable rooms, a fabulous restaurant and adorable details throughout, take a journey with me to Charlottesville’s Graduate Hotel.
My husband and I had a complimentary stay and meals at Graduate Charlottesville. All opinions are genuine and based on my own personal experience.
It happened to be our 23rd wedding anniversary (time flies!), and we were invited to stay at Graduate Charlottesville. With vintage features and a creative vibe, here are a few things I loved while staying at this Graduate Hotel near the University of Virginia.
the outdoors
It’s so nice when a hotel is easy to find, which Graduate Charlottesville definitely is. With bright signage and a friendly staff, we felt so welcomed. I also LOVED that they offer bikes to their guests! Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall and other shopping and eating areas are close by, so it was nice to have bikes available for perusing the city.
the atmosphere
Anyone who knows me realizes that I adore all things vintage and eclectic. And the decor inside is just that. With a mix of pictures and found items, the decor at the hotel is spot on perfect! From the lobby to the upstairs lounge (where students can hang out and study!) the vintage vibe was carried throughout.
the sheepdog cafe
Great for meeting friends, grabbing a morning coffee, or having a quick snack, Sheepdog Cafe is a convenient – and adorable – spot right in the lobby of the Graduate Hotel.
the room (& the surprises!)
With a comfy bed and more vintage items scattered throughout, the room was so fun! College themes such as horses, foxes and a plaid pattern were also present. We were surprised with a lovely bottle of anniversary champagne and a tiny luggage box filled with yummy, local snacks.
the kitschy sense of humor
Ok, it’s no surprise that someone at Graduate Hotels has a sense of humor. Here are some of my favorites!
celebrity key cards
notebook and directory as school books
college banner door signs
(P.S. They are pet-friendly!!)
tassels to encourage you to go green
“tp” in a teepee!
Dinner @ Heirloom
Heirloom Rooftop + Bar was so delightful! With a fun cocktail menu and great options for a variety of tastes, my husband and I really enjoyed ourselves. Chef Paris came out to chat with us AND made us a special off-menu item of sweet potatoes with a toasted marshmallow topping. I truly loved it, and everything was delicious! The view from the rooftop was also lovely.
Brunch @ Heirloom
We were invited to head up to Heirloom once again for brunch, and it was delightful. The green-themed Kale Salad was a perfect way to start the day! I also tried the flavorful Eggs in Purgatory, and my husband had the Steak and Eggs. It was all so delicious – I’m craving that Kale Salad. Sounds like it’s time to head to Graduate Charlottesville again!
If you are in or around Charlottesville, Virginia, I would definitely suggest a stay at Graduate Charlottesville. And if you are headed to another college town, check their website to choose another Graduate Hotel.
