I love packing for travel! I tend to pick my best outfits and try to coordinate my looks while maximizing everything from jewelry to shoe combinations so that I don’t overpack. Recently I visited California, and I documented my time – and my looks – through the lens of jewelry options from Violet & Brooks jewelry. From tassels to pin sets, I had so much fun. All of the photos below are taken either with outstretched arms or my self-timer, so I’d love to hear any feedback. On to my looks!
This post is in partnership with Violet & Brooks, and I appreciate their generosity. I also will be chatting about Hotel Los Gatos and Graduate Berkeley, which both gave me complimentary stays – I can’t wait to showcase them in the future!
Jewelry Options
Day One Daytime – Hotel Los Gatos
I arrived at the Hotel Los Gatos in Los Gatos, CA a day early so that I could explore on my own. And boy, did I have fun! I pulled on a Free People turtleneck tank and slim denim skirt to head out and about. I loved the town and had a great time! Bonus points go to the hotel for having a fab outdoor area all to myself right outside of my door for photographing these looks. So fun!!
Here is what I wore as jewelry options from Violet & Brooks:
- Blythe Bloom Earring in Mauve
- May Hair Clip Quartet in Whites
- Bloom Flower Brooch in Pink
I adore the hair clips (in ANY style). They are sturdy and keep my hair intact. I have fine, curly hair that can become super unruly in any humidity, so I can especially appreciate these to hold the tiny wisps of hair up. Of course, the earrings are fun, and they are so lightweight, which my ears appreciate. The floral pin is so feminine, and it was a nice touch!
Day One Evening – Hotel Los Gatos
My time at Hotel Los Gatos started with an evening cocktail hour in getting to know others on our trip, so I put on one of my favorite dresses from Anthropologie and paired it with a few fun looks including my L’Artiste shoes that are so versatile!
Here is what I’m wearing as jewelry options from Violet & Brooks:
- Olivia Tassel Earring in White
- May Hair Clip Quartet in Whites
Again, these hair clips are great! The first look featured the patterned clips in the set, and my look below includes the solid colored ones. To be transparent, my hair is in a small band. I flipped the hair inward so that you can’t see the band, and I added the clip as an accent. And can I just have a moment with those earrings? When I received them, I thought they were NOT my style, but was I wrong. They are also lightweight, and I LOVE THEM!
Day Two Morning – Hotel Los Gatos
This day started out slow and relaxing, which was just my speed. The good thing about heading to the West Coast is that my body and mind is still on East Coast time. It’s a bear at night, but it’s great for waking up refreshed and ready to go! I had a few moments before breakfast to grab photos in a casual outfit before I headed to breakfast at Hotel Los Gatos and then a massage at Verde Touch Spa.
Jewelry options from Violet and Brooks:
- Rhea Beaded Hoop Earring in White
- Edie Hair Pin Troupe in Greige
- Party Tassel Bracelet in Orange/Grey
Again, I can’t get over the lightweight feel of the earrings. It’s great to have larger earrings that don’t hurt. The tiny sparkly bobby pins are the perfect accents, and the bracelet was a great way to add a bit of flair to my wrist. Adorable!
Day Two Afternoon – Hotel Los Gatos
Having just a few moments after a super relaxing massage, I threw on this dress from Effie’s Heart, put up my hair and hit the road to Testarossa Winery – but not before grabbing pictures. I felt so comfortable, yet I only had a small amount of time to get my look together. Plus, I was in that post-massage haze. Ha!
Here are a few more jewelry options via Violet & Brooks:
- Priscilla Hair Clip Duet in Rose Gold
- Savannah Scatter Pin Set in Green
- Iris Earring Trio in Olive
Be sure to notice the tiny scatter pins as an accent on the dress. So cute! And these hair clips are my favorite set. I truly do love the way they look. They have become a daily go-to for me!
Day Three Morning – Hotel Los Gatos
I was so sad to leave Los Gatos, but I was headed to another very special place. I mean, just look at the grounds. So pretty!! From a lovely pool area to ivy-draped walls, it really was a wonderful experience.
Here are today’s jewelry options from Violet & Brooks:
- Savannah Scatter Pin Set in Green
- May Hair Clip Quartet in Whites
- Blythe Bloom Earring in Navy
Day Three Evening – Graduate Berkeley
So, confession here. I’m not that great at directions, but it’s SO easy in the area of California I was in. I found my way to BART, which took me all the way to Berkeley. There I stayed at the beautiful Graduate Berkeley, and I checked something off of my list. I went and sang karaoke for 5 hours straight. Ha! It was fab – I loved it. Below is what I changed into to go and rock songs straight out of the 80s. I mean we could all use a bit more Pat Benatar and Duran Duran in our lives, right?
Take a peek at my Violet & Brooks jewelry options:
- Iris Earring Trio in Olive
- Priscilla Hair Clip Duet in Rose Gold
I had such a great time, and thank goodness for Lyft. I navigated my way around by walking to karaoke but making it safely back to the hotel. You’ll also see that the jewelry I wore were ones from prior looks.
Day Four Morning – Graduate Berkeley
Ah! This was my last day and the one where I headed to the airport. Boo! But I had a great night’s sleep at Graduate Berkeley. the room was decorated in such a fun way – notice the composition book style directory. Too cute! Here I sported a pair of earrings you’ve seen before AND I must confess that I actually have two sets of hair clips. Yes, I love them that much! Oh, and my cute PJs are from GAP.

I had such fun!
I can’t wait to share more of my actual trip with you, but all in all, I had a great time learning how to take a few solo photos while sporting some fabulous looks from Violet & Brooks.

Such beautiful jewelry! I love every piece and how you styled them! I always love branching out a little more when I travel and getting out of my standard office wear pieces!
You made some really beautiful suggestions here. I really like the tassel earrings they are just gorgeous.
Those are all some beautiful pieces!! I love the flower earrings 😍
I love the way you mix your accessories. Your outfits are so simple and fashionable. Thanks for sharing!
Those are some awesome suggestions to have with. Lovely style you have 🙂
I’m travelling a lot, but I do not really like to take jewelry with me – besides a very plain gold necklace and one pair of classic creole earrings. These two pieces match with basically everything and I don’t have to worry about losing anything. Only in Brazil, I did not wear the necklace since it occurs that it gets ripped from your neck….ouch!
Yes! Sometimes minimal packing is best – especially if you are trekking a lot. But this particular trip had a lot of nights out, which I was happy to dress for. And I love staple pieces – so fun that you have some. <3
What great combos! I am loving day one option 2 and day four morning! They are all so different and very pretty!
These are all gorgeous but I absolutely loved the hoop earring! They’re exactly my style, very extravagant!
I love earrings in any design – stud, loop or drop! So you’d already guess by now that I am interested in those pretty earrings. My favorite would be the Blythe Bloom Earring in Mauve !
Interesting jewellery options here. I love them all especially the hair clips in the last photo. So glittery.
It’s nice to see people travelling with all the necessary pieces to look fab! I’m very very minimalistic because want to feel free, but I am loving these choices!
I also ensure that when I’ m travelling, I do not over pack and as well, I do not leave out some cute pieces of jewelry. Even so, I love the ‘day one evening jewelry’ pieces you brought along…especially the tassel earrings!
I love the sparkly stud earrings! Well, actually I love all the earrings. My second favorite is the bloom earring in navy color. So pretty!
As someone who makes her own jewelry I understand the love for them! All your options are so cute especially the tassel earrings!
