Mediterranean sophistication blends with California charm to create a hotel reminiscent of a private villa. I totally wish those were my words, but they’re not. I also can’t think of a more perfect way to describe the look and feel of the atmosphere created by Hotel Los Gatos, a luxury boutique hotel tucked within California’s Silicon Valley. I think you’ll agree!
I was invited to stay at Hotel Los Gatos as a consideration for destination weddings. I loved my time there, and all of the opinions and photos are my own.
Hotel Los Gatos
The Mediterranean feel definitely comes through at first glance due to the ivy-laden walls of the hotel itself. The location was extremely easy to find and is within walking distance of the town of Los Gatos, CA, which is quaint and thriving. Be sure to peruse the shops and visit the restaurants while you are in town!
I totally didn’t realize until I was in Los Gatos that the name means the cats, but I did take note of a cute kitty in the lobby, which has a warm and welcoming color palette. Pottery above the fireplace was a pretty touch, and there is plenty of seating for waiting and meeting friends.
Ok, I don’t want to sound like a kid, but when I saw my own room, I literally jumped up and down (see how excited I am in the bathroom photo, lol). It was SO spacious, plus it had a fireplace (yes, I did run it in the summer!) and a big garden tub. The toiletries included bath salts, which I was sure to put to good use. It was such a comfortable stay, and I thoroughly enjoyed having some alone time. It was a bonus to have my own tiny balcony AND a separate terrace that led to the pool. So nice!
the alma suite
While I was there, I actually got to take a peek at the luxurious Alma Suite…and I thought my room was spacious! The Alma definitely exudes comfort and sophistication. Take a peek. Gorgeous! What a perfect place for a couple to get away for a few days and explore. Plus, that fireplace is so romantic.
A pool is always a big asset – especially when it is as lovely as the one at Hotel Los Gatos. It is centrally located in the middle of the hotel, which offers both privacy and convenience. Plus, it’s just pretty to look at. I did enjoy a swim, which was delightful. Lounge chairs await those who just want to relax poolside, and they also offer towels just for the use of swimmers and sunbathers.
the property and gardens
Below is a photo of my balcony. Cute, right? It’s perfect for a cup of coffee in the morning. The sides and back of the property are surrounded by gardens and walking paths, which help create a beautiful, serene atmosphere. Everything is well manicured, and the flowers were in bloom and oh so gorgeous.
the on-site restaurant – Dio Deka
Craving a Michelin rated restaurant? Well, there is one on site. And it is delicious! Billed as “fine Hellenic cuisine” the dishes are unique and have a Grecian flair. In the first photo below, you can see one of the entrances to the hotel on the left and the doors to Dio Deka on the right. Convenient!
You can also see some of the dishes I tried. My favorite by far was the roasted Brussels sprouts complete with thin, crisp bacon and an egg that you mix into the dish. I was skeptical at first, but it ended up being the thing that I still crave. So so good!
Also, I am a fan of whiskey sours (I know not the most feminine drink, but oh well!), so I ordered one and requested honey whiskey – if they had it. I honestly didn’t think they would. To my delight, they have a full bar and – indeed – had what I wanted and made a tasty drink. Yum! Take a peek at their current menus here.
the property (& tile!)
I’m such a sucker for beautiful tile. Recently, I’ve seen it in Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, and Mexico. The tiles are so unique and beautifully crafted – imagine my delight when I saw it as part of the design at Hotel Los Gatos! I had fun perusing the grounds taking photos and finding my way around. There are so many plants, and the areas for sitting are endless.
Although I didn’t take any photos, I did want to mention that there is an on-site spa called Verde Touch. I was able to enjoy an amazing, relaxing massage while I was visiting. I highly recommend it! Staying in Hotel Los Gatos was a wonderful experience, and I can’t wait to head back some day. If you’d like to visit their website, just click HERE.
