I adore press trips because it opens up opportunities both in location and experience. I grew up in PA, but I had never visited Gettysburg. What a shame! It is known for battlefields and history, but I went to promote the Adams County Pour Tour, which I will feature in an upcoming post.

I was an invited guest of Destination Gettysburg to take part in the Adams County Pour Tour. All opinions are mine. I also do partner with Violet & Brooks Jewelry and Gladiola Girls as wear their pieces often! 

I normally dress up while traveling, but we were visiting farms and visiting wineries, cideries, breweries, and distilleries. Their pour tour has the full gamut covered! I wanted to look nice, yet be comfy in the hot weather and not wear heels because…well, did you see the where we were visiting? Take a peek at what I wore.

Pour Tour Fashion

Our tour day was full of farms, fun, and beauty. I couldn’t get over how gorgeous the area was! From perusing orchards and tasting cider to enjoying brick oven pizza, the itinerary was perfect. I heard stories of how businesses were founded and family history. I love that Adams County has people willing to carry on established businesses along with recent entrepreneurs.

I bought this sweater a few years ago, and it became a staple. With its bigger weave and generous fit, it allows air to flow through to keep cool or to cover up a bit more to keep you. The high/low look is appropriate for my favorite pair of skinny jeans. The shoes? I always get compliments  – I have had ladies stop me on the street to ask where I purchased them! They are comfy, and they’re the ONE pair of shoes I chose to take with me. I didn’t regret it!

We had a break after touring, and we met up for dinner. An outfit change was in order to dress up for a nice dinner out. We headed to Atland House Restaurant (they have a brewery on-site!) and had a delicious meal and a nice time chatting.

I purchased this dress last year for the Junior League of Lynchburg’s Little Black Dress Initiative, and it is a great year-round dress. The slightly longer sleeve makes it a wonderful transition piece. The front is interesting, too. It’s a little black(ish) dress that packs a punch with detailing!

The tour was two days, so I didn’t have to think much about what to pack, but when in Gettysburg…be patriotic! I started the day with a red, white, and blue scarf, and again I dressed for comfort and keeping cool.

I also have a bit of a funny story. Most of my fashion photos are photos that I take with a self-timer. I thought the red door belonged to a business that wasn’t open yet, BUT to my surprise, the door opened. I was mortified to find a couple standing inside. They were equally shocked. Ha! It was the door to an inn…you never know what will happen when flying solo!

Let me talk about sales for a moment.

I want to encourage you to shop sales. When you hear certain brands you think they aren’t affordable, right? Gladiola Girls knows when I walk in, that I am headed straight to the sale rack – the bigger the sale, the better! ALL of my pieces from Gladiola were very affordable. I care about what I wear, want quality pieces, and want to look great. I am also attached to my wallet, and there is something to be said about the thrill of a sale!

Even if you think a place may not be within your budget, give it a try! Follow brands and boutiques on social media and get on mailing lists so you can know when they have specials or markdowns. You’ll be glad to save money, and the store will be happy to make room for new things. My last outfit – top, pants, and shoes – cost me around $70. The shoes were on sale for $37, the top was just $15, and the jeans were $17 (I hit a Joe’s Jeans outlet store that was closing and practically giving stuff away!). They are all pieces I’ll have in my wardrobe for a long time.
