California definitely has its claims to fame. Movie sets, beautiful shorelines, and sprawling wine country come to mind immediately, right? I’ve been to California several times over the past year, and the state continues to surprise me – especially when it comes to lovely towns like Los Gatos. Named after “the cats” it’s no wonder I loved my time there, but with great places to eat, explore, and shop, I think it’s the perfect place for a getaway. Take a peek at what I found in Los Gatos California!
Los Gatos California
for the art aficionado
take a walk and enjoy the architecture
A walk around the town is a delight, and homeowners take such pride in their residences. Details like gingerbread, detailed doors and quintessential white picket fences make each house stand out. Add in gorgeous gardens and lush lawns, and a walk through the area – both for exercise and to see the adorable homes – is a “must do” while you are in town. I definitely had a moment with those roses – so beautiful!
stop by Trent’s Pottery
I adore handmade things, so when I noticed a pottery shop, I had to stop in! Their collection of handcrafted pieces is lovely to peruse. I purchased the cat tile you’ll see below…it’s something I couldn’t resist while I was there. The collection of mugs and vases at Trent’s Pottery makes for stunning, locally made gifts to take home. Gorgeous!
for the fashionista
discover trends at Bella Rosa Boutique
Whether you forgot to bring an article of clothing or just want to peruse the latest styles, Bella Rosa Boutique is the place to stop. This bright, airy shop is well lit and features clothing ranging from casual to dressy. Accessories, handbags, and shoes also take center stage for showcasing the latest trends. As a female-owned business, their service is top notch if you need a bit of help finding that perfect little something to wear. What a beautiful place!
feel beautiful at French Theft
Another female-owned business, French Theft Lingerie combines art, delicate intimates and an element of fun. I was drawn in by the original art in the windows coupled with the slight movement of the butterflies. The themes of appreciating artwork and stocking unique underpinnings are carried all throughout the shop. You are sure to find something to make you feel confident (and perhaps sexy!) underneath it all.
be inspired at Haute Bride
If you choose to make Los Gatos California the location for your destination wedding (see here), Haute Bride can help you dress for the occasion. A wedding may be the furthest thing from your mind, but even so, taking a peek at their jewelry collection is a feast for the eyes! Popping by to check out their accessories is a worthy stop while you are in town.
for the craver of variety
discover California made products at Redemption
If you love one-stop shops for souvenirs, fashion, and a little bit of everything, then Redemption is the place to go. The premise of their store is to support those who design and make products in California. It’s the perfect boutique for picking up a little something for yourself and/or for those who deserve a little something from your trip. What a beautiful selection!
visit Pete at Bunches
Are you an animal lover? I am! Los Gatos California isn’t only named after cats, but one local flower shop – Bunches – offers lovely blooms AND a duck named Pete (who happens to be a girl!). Admittedly, I was intrigued by their sign out front. A duck? You bet I had to go in! Pete loves lettuce and even has a pigeon friend who perches on a shelf. Such a fun stop! Oh…did I fail to mention that they have beautiful florals, too?
watch a movie at the Los Gatos Theatre
Even if you aren’t a movie buff, a stop at the Los Gatos Theatre is a treat. With relics and decor that is modern, yet reminiscent of years past, their movie selection is on par. This 1915 theatre endured a 1929 fire and a few renovations to get where it is today. I adore the Art Deco vibe and the stately kitty that is front and center.
Curious about where to dine in Los Gatos California? I’ll post about that coming up soon! I have 4 recommendations of where to grab a bite to eat…after all, if you are visiting all of the above places, you are sure to be hungry. Oh, and if you are looking for a place to stay, Hotel Los Gatos is a haven within walking distance of all of my recommendations. Take a peek at the hotel here.
