One word of caution – the last photo in this section shows the tiles in the rain. They get slippery, so watch out!
When it comes to touring, there are many historic plazas and squares. This is where the true beauty of the tile patterns can shine through. Such a pretty sight!
In Front of Stores
If you are a shop owner, chances are that your street number may be marked within the Portuguese street tiles on the sidewalk. How ingenious!
This may seem the least exciting, but even if a sidewalk or street doesn’t have a distinct design, the way that the stones are cut and placed is beautiful. Be sure to notice these when you are touring Portugal!
True story – I was actually searching for one photo to show you of a plaza that had patterned tile, and guess what? I started finding many examples of them throughout the images I took. So, of the images below, be sure to look at the cobblestones, designs around monuments, and detailed walkways. The Portuguese street tiles are gorgeous!
